Greetings this Joyous Holiday Season ROSE Members!

Some of you will remember we assisted Lady B with purchasing gifts for kids who are apart of All God’s Children Adoption Agency and community kids who were in need. We took Buffalo Angels from the Christmas tree at Buffalo’s restaurant and purchased gifts for many kids. It was great, and I thank you for your giving! This year, Timothy supported Toys for Tots, and a family contacted the church for assistance after the deadline. This is a family of six, two parents and four children. Lady B would also like for us to assist in helping with the Buffalo Angels. We are asking each of you to share your blessings as you see fit. If you’re able to assist with purchasing gifts for the Hurst family, please have them wrapped, tagged with the appropriate kid’s name, and dropped off at Timothy no later than Thursday December 15th. It would also be helpful if you could respond to this e-mail with the name of the child you have chosen. This will help us insure that each child receives a sponsor. If you would like to purchase a gift for a child on Buffalo’s Christmas tree, please go by Buffalo’s and pick up an angel. The gifts would have to be returned by Friday December 16th. Thanksgiving Day Outreach Reminder

Calling all R.O.S.E. Ministry members! We are in need of volunteers to assist in the Timothy Baptist Church Thanksgiving Day Outreach being held on tomorrow from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The church will be providing a full-course Thanksgiving Day meal and other free services for those in need.

All R.O.S.E. Ministry volunteers are asked to meet in the Fellowship Hall at 9:00 am. This outreach will serve as our November R.O.S.E. Ministry Fellowship. Hope to see you there!

"Women's Month at TBC" - May 2011

Spring is in the air! It is that time of year again...time to celebrate the unique and special women that we are. Let's get together for our annual Women's Luncheon on Saturday May 21, 2011 at 11:30 AM. This is sure to be a splendid occasion!

For our May Outreach during Women's month, the Total Woman and R.O.S.E Ministries will collect needed items for the Athens Pregnancy Center. Donations can be brought to the May 21st luncheon. Ladies, let's partner with the Athens Pregnancy Center which is an evangelical Christian ministry to help in meeting the needs of individuals experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, with the full affirmation of the sanctity of human life.

Hello!

The time is quickly approaching for our 2nd Annual No Boys Allowed: A Christian Empowerment Workshop for Girls (NBA 2). This event is specifically designed for young women ages 12-18 and will be held in September of 2011. NBA 2 provides an opportunity for these girls to come receive Godly advice about everyday life. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than last year as we hope to add sessions about getting into college, fashion & make-up, and relationships. We are definitely going to need “all hands on deck” to make this event a success!

We need volunteers to assist in the following areas:

Registration
Food/Snacks
Gifts/Raffles
Logistics/Working Behind the Scenes

Lights! Camera! Action!

As you know, the R.O.S.E. Ministry will be joining the Women's Ministry on February 9th at 7pm for the viewing of a skit called "911: Grace & Mercy I.C.U." This skit promises to be hilarious, yet provide a Godly and inspirational message.

We definitely want you all to be present for the event, but wouldn't you like to be a part of the action? We are in need of "Stand-In's" for the skit. If you are interested in participating as a "stand-in", please meet us at Timothy Baptist Church, (in the old sanctuary) on Monday, February 7th at 6:30pm for rehearsal. We would also need you to arrive on Wednesday, February 9th by 6:30pm to prepare for showtime.

First Lady's Birthday Celebration

The Total Woman Ministry of Timothy Baptist Church will host a birthday celebration luncheon in honor of First Lady Sheila Hutchins on Saturday January 8th, 2011 at the Cateechee Golf Club in Hartwell, GA. This is a "Ladies Only" event, but the men are encouraged to support this event by giving a love offering or purchasing a ticket for your spouse or "significant other" to attend.

Tickets for the event are $25.00 per person and can be purchased from Sharon Hillman, Debbie Anderson, Martha Noble, Angela Bugg and Juanita Page. Tickets can also be purchased in the church office from Tempraya Stewart. The deadline to make your purchase is Sunday December 26, 2010.

This will be an event that you will NOT want to miss! We hope to see you there!

This year, we have the awesome privilege of blessing 14 children from All God's Children Adoption Agency with Christmas gifts. If you would like to join us in this effort, take a look at the children's wish lists below. Ministry member submit the scripture they would like placed on the back of the t-shirts. You can be as creative as you like, considering there are hundreds of scriptures in the bible to choose from. Girls of Destiny Fashion Extravaganza This Saturday!

Please remember that the Girls of Destiny Fashion Extravaganza will be held on Saturday, August 7th from 12pm – 2pm. Everyone is invited! This is going to be a fabulous event and proceeds from the fashion show will go to benefit the TBC Scholarship Program. Some of you have signed up to assist with this event and we really appreciate your help! Those of us who were not able to sign up to directly assist with the event are still able to show support by being in attendance.

This is a brief reminder that we are asking all who are willing to join us as we fast and pray for our upcoming event No Boys Allowed: A Christian Empowerment Workshop for Girls. We simply ask that you fast from one thing (anything you choose) from Tuesday, July 6th to Tuesday, July 13th and pray for the event, for the young ladies, and for each other. We are believeing God for great things! As of today, we have approximately 30 young ladies signed up for the event!

Please keep in mind that we will be holding our final planning meeting on Saturday, July 10th from 2-3pm in the TBC Education Building Chapel.

Also, for those of you who would like to make a financial contribution toward the purchase of the roses, balloons, nametags, ribbons, and the goodie bag items, please be sure to give your donation either to Leneria Mitchell or Natasha Lester. As it stands, we have about 30 young ladies who have signed up to participate in the workshop! We plan to prepare enough materials to accommodate 50 young ladies.

Empowerment Workshop Volunteer Meeting

We will hold a very important meeting for all who are interested in volunteering to assist with our upcoming "No Boys Allowed: Christian Empowerment Workshop for Girls" that will be held on Tuesday, July 13th at 7pm in the Timothy Baptist Church Education Building. As a reminder, this event will be an opportunity for The R.O.S.E. Ministry to reach out to young girls (ages 12 - 18) and share testimonies/words of wisdom and answer any questions that they may have about living a successful Christian life and avoiding some of the pitfalls that are out there. We really believe that this event will be life-changing for these girls. Just think about what you wish someone would have told you when you were their age . . .

We want to make these girls feel extra special during this workshop, but we need your help! Please join us for our volunteer meeting on Saturday, June 26th from 2pm - 3pm at the Starbucks on Epps Bridge Parkway (Click here for directions). If you know that you will not be able to attend theJuly 13th event, but you would still like to assist with goodie bag assembly or if you would like to assist us by making a financial contribution toward the purchase of roses and goodie bag items, you are welcome to attend the volunteer meeting or simply reply to this e-mail and we can give you information on where to make your donation.

ROSE Ministry June Fellowship

The June R.O.S.E. Ministry fellowship will be held at the Timothy Baptist Church on Saturday June 12th at 12:00pm after Church Council. Habitat for Humanity - May Event

On May 15, 2010 the R.O.S.E. Ministry has been asked to assist Habitat for Humanity with the building of a home in the East Athens area. We will meet from 9:00 am - 3:00pm in the East Athens Community. Additionally, we will be working with building materials, including paint, so please dress appropriately.

Ministry and the Women's Ministry for a special Personal Safety Class on Wednesday, April 7th at 7:00pm in the TBC Fellowship Hall. The class will be taught by Sgt. Peter Walls of the UGA Police Department.

We want to let you know that tickets are still available for Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family! We are planning to attend this production on Friday, April 16th at 8pm at The Fox Theater in Atlanta in celebration of the R.O.S.E.Ministry's 2nd Anniversary. You can purchase your tickets online at http://www.ticketmaster.com or at your local Publix grocery store. If you purchase the tickets at Publix, you may be able to get a discount on the processing fees and you can get your tickets in hand immediately!

Please let us know if you purchase a ticket and are interested in riding the church van to the event. We will need to know how many people are planning to ride the van so that we can submit our request in a timely manner. First Lady has a special request of the R.O.S.E. Ministry. She would like for us to think of ideas for a fellowship event with the high school-aged ladies of the church. Helpful Keys to Acheiving Your Goals in 2010

Another year and another set of resolutions. If you're like most Americans, you'll probably forget your goals by mid-February. So how do you make your resolutions actually happen this year?

First, keep in mind that goals are dreams; but don't stop at just dreaming. Turn your dreams into bite-sized pieces that will gradually create a big event in your life. If you're waiting on an outside variable to change your life, you have a long wait. You have to do something. It's your responsibility to fix your life, not someone else's. It's time to sit down, make some goals, and take control.

Goal setting is how you win. Once you've made your resolutions, they will drive you forward. The goals will motivate you to seek activities that will help you succeed. It's not always fun, but those exercises bring you closer to your goal and make you a winner.If you want to actually achieve your goals this year, then consider the following:

Be specific.
When setting goals, be specific in what you want to achieve. Vagueness will only cause you to feel overwhelmed, and you will just give up.
Make your goals measureable.
In order to know if you achieved the goal, it must be measurable. For example, if you want to lose weight, don't simply write down "lose weight" as a goal. How much weight do you want to lose? Or don't just write "spend more time with family." How much time do you want to spend with your family every night?
Are they your goals?
Only you can set your own goals. If your spouse, co-worker or friend sets a goal for you, you're not going to achieve it. Taking ownership will give you more incentive to meet your goal.
Set a time limit.
Setting a time frame will help you set realistic goals. For example, if you want to save more money, list how much money a month you want to put into your savings account.
Put them in writing.
Putting your goals in writing will make you much more likely to achieve them. Write down your goals and review them often. This will give you motivation to make them a reality.

This is the process to succeed. Successful people reassess their lives and then start living intentionally, in writing, on paper, on purpose. Make your resolutions a reality in 2010.
